My research is driven by the pursuit of innovative, practical, and ethical solutions to engineering challenges, with a focus on electromagnetic non-destructive testing (NDT) and the applications of artificial intelligence.
Research Interests
-
Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) NDT – Development of advanced PEC probes, models, and signal processing techniques for defect detection, corrosion under insulation (CUI), and structural integrity assessment.
 -
Deep Learning for Pavement Inspection – Application of computer vision and pixel-level segmentation for automated detection, classification, and characterization of pavement cracks, contributing to intelligent infrastructure maintenance.
 -
Smart Sensing Systems – Integration of sensors, signal processing, and machine learning for industrial applications in automation, robotics, and materials inspection.
 -
Islamic Perspectives on Engineering Ethics – Exploring ethical frameworks informed by the Islamic worldview in guiding the responsible development and deployment of emerging technologies.

Publications & Contributions
My work has been published in indexed journals and international conferences, covering both fundamental and applied research in NDT, deep learning, and engineering ethics. I have also co-authored book chapters and contributed to collaborative works on affective computing, signal processing, and intelligent manufacturing.
Supervision & Research Training
I actively supervise PhD and Master’s students in NDT, deep learning, and sensing systems. My postgraduate supervision has produced graduates who now contribute to academia, industry, and research globally.
